So I’ve been doing some readership analysis tonight, and it turns out, you guys aren’t that interested in our Artist Focus series. So, with that in mind, we’re going to draw that to a close at the end of August (31st). If you want to choose our last Artist Focus, get in touch and we’ll let the most popular suggestion decide. For now though, we Can’t Stop, because it’s still Red Hot Chili Pepper Week!
Can’t Stop is a song that was introduced to me by one of our former part-time writers, Dean, who would you won’t find in the categories any more because I tidied them up.
We start with one of my favourite musical features – a build up, with this one lasting 20 seconds, which is then followed by a 15 second guitar solo, before the lyrics kick in.
And the lyrics, good Lord, the lyrics. They’re so all over the place, you’d think they were high when they wrote this. Fuck, they might have been. I can’t make head or tail of what it’s meant to be about. I really can’t. I’ve listened to it a good fifty times, if not more, over the last few years, and I still don’t have a clue what it’s about. Like, I don’t get it, so much that I can’t even pick out any favourites, I just love the overall tone of the song.
And having now seen the video, I agree with my previous opinion. It’s absolutely mental, must be a trip, and is fantastic. I love it. I love it a lot.
