Righty oh – we’re almost here, the moment we’ve been waiting for, the episode that is long overdue. It is, as they stated in the trailer, about time. But, what do we want to see in this new series of Doctor Who? Me? Well, here’s what I want to see…
First thing that popped to my mind was Jack. Captain Jack Harkness. I can’t help but be curious about what would happen if he were in this series. How would he play it with The Doctor, and she with he? It’s one question I likely won’t discover the answer to, but a big part of me would love to find out.
Bradley Walsh. Now, I understand that he used to be a footballer and worked on Coronation Street, but Doctor Who and Coronation Street are two very different kettles of fish. Does he have what it takes? I think he does, I think he can do it, but I know plenty of people who don’t, and I’m very interested in finding out which of us is correct.
The Weeping Angels. Good Lord, I want to see them again, but how they used to be, before we witnessed them moving on screen. It was, in my eyes, the greatest fourth wall break when we, as observers of the show, were able to stop them from moving. It was such a powerful thing and I want it back.
The title sequence is something I’m looking forward to seeing – I get the feeling it’s going to be something very different this season, looking at the trailers, so I’m hoping it will be an interesting watch. It might seem like such a small thing, but it’s important, it’s an indication as to the type of Doctor each actor has been and so this could be our first proper insight to Whittaker in the role. Or not. We’ll have to see.
Finally, and this is the most important thing – I want to see them have fun. We’ve witnessed The Doctor go through some high times and some low times, some happy and some sad. I think it would be nice if, just for a while, there was no personal sadness for The Doctor. She’s been through enough, and it’s time that she caught a break. Just for a while, at least.
So, that’s what I want to see. Nothing too special, but there it is. What about you?
Remember, I’ll be live-tweeting along with the show using #TGTRS and #DoctorWho, so feel free to tweet me, or join in the fun. Share what you think with us, and some time after it finishes you’ll have a post from me letting you know what I thought. It’ll be amazing, I’m sure, and I look forward to it all. I hope you do too.
